A Battery Management System (BMS) is technology dedicated to the oversight of a battery pack, which is an assembly of battery cells, electrically organised in a row x column matrix configuration to enable delivery of targeted range of voltage and current for a duration of time against expected load scenarios.
The inclusion of a BMS is vital in lithium battery applications to ensure safety, efficiency, and longevity.
The SmallBMS can replace the VE.Bus BMS V2 in several applications. However, the device is not suitable for use with VE.Bus MultiPlus and Quattro inverter/chargers: it has no VE.Bus interface.
The SmallBMS is intended for use with Victron Smart LiFePo4 batteries with M8 circular connectors. It has two outputs, similar to the VE.Bus BMS V2.
